Coaching is a structured facilitated learning intervention. The coach and the coachee establish the reason for which they are embarking on a coaching programme together. No coaching should be entered into without the reason being commonly understood. Some clients are referred to coaching by their sponsors, mostly their managers, or parents. However, the coaching programme is always about the coachee. It is the coachee that must formulate the coaching theme, goals, and objectives. The coach's role is to facilitate the formulation process and support the coaching agenda. The coaching agenda belongs to the coachee.
